Three members of the Panhellenic Association of Translators have participated as speakers at international events held online this April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
PEM’s Vice President participated in the open online event held by Women in Localization – Greece Chapter, themed #becomethenewchallengers, on April 9
This event featured a thought-provoking debate between Elsa Sklavounou, VP of AI Alliances at RWS, and Vicky Ghionis VP of PEM; the two leaders shared their insights in order to challenge existing preconceptions and discuss their vision about the role of translators in the future. The event also featured a workshop in which more than 200 participants were given the opportunity to voice their concerns, brainstorm for ideas, and share their experiences, to collectively come up with ways to tackle new obstacles, evolve and shape the future of translators.
PEM’s representative in FIT Europe participated in the international T-Update conference held by EUATC on April 15-16
At the t-update 2021 virtual event, Annette Shiller, and our representative in FIT Europe, John O’Shea, presented this year’s ELIS survey results for independent language professionals.
PEM’s Secretary General participated in the BP Translation Conference themed “Breaking Patterns” on April 20-23
In this year’s virtual event, our Secretary General, Anastasia Giagkopoulou explained how translators can use use Content Marketing techniques to their benefit and why they need to know how to write great headlines for their marketing content, as well as how these headlines will get their leads’ attention and increase traffic to their business, using examples of successful effective headlines.
The Panhellenic Association of Translators (PEM) will continue to undertake actions in Greece and abroad to ensure the industry’s ongoing advancement, and work with other organisations to promote our profession.
