Along with the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and interpreting (DFLTI) of the Ionian University and the Hellenic Association for Translations Studies (HS4TS), the Panhellenic Association of Translators (PEM) is hosting the 2nd Conference for Translation & Interpreting Professionals, at the premises of the Union of Daily Newspaper Editors (ESIEA), in Athens, on Friday 20 & Saturday 21 October 2023.
At the same time, PEM is hosting the FIT Europe Member Associations’ Annual Meeting, on Friday 20 October 2023.
The Conference is titled “Are we ready for the future?” and is addressed to young and experienced professional translators and interpreters who want to be informed about the latest industry trends as well as to translation and interpreting students who want to network and explore their current professional prospects.
Purpose and objectives of the Conference
The main purpose of the Conference is to present the current situation, methods, practices, and technology in T&I, as well as the added value and contribution of T&I research and education in modern professional practice in these fields.
In addition to the above, the Conference seeks to underline the importance of the rise and integration of AI and technology within T&I, in order not only to present how the current rapid technological changes have reshaped the way professionals work, but also to cast a light on the necessity of embracing and understanding the possibilities and challenges of these advancements.
Conference programme
The Conference programme includes presentations by Translation and Interpreting professors from the Ionian University, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Cyprus, as well as by renowned professionals with long experience in the field.

- € 80 for non-PEM members
- € 60 for PEM members
- Free for university students / PEM associate members
