Role of the Disciplinary Board
The Disciplinary Board of PEM:
- Investigates any charges against PEM members on unethical conduct.
- Recommends sanctions in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Conduct and regulations of PEΜ.
- Imposes the temporary or permanent suspension of members in particularly serious cases set out in the Code of Ethics and Conduct.
- Prepares and updates the Code of Ethics and Conduct and the procedure for filing a complaint.
- Convenes and discusses issues with 2 members present, but decisions must be taken by all members.

Establishment and members
The provisions regarding the establishment of the Disciplinary Board are outlined in Article 28A of PEM’s Articles of Association. The Disciplinary Board consists of 3 members.
The General Meeting appoints the Disciplinary Board members for 2 years. All of them are paid-up full PEM members.
Meet the Disciplinary Board Members for the 2018-2020 mandate
Dimitris Bountzolas, President
Dimitris has Spanish as his mother tongue. After finishing English Philology at Salamanca University, Spain, in 2001 he perfected his Greek language skills at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2018 he started a Master in Audiovisual Translation and Localization in Madrid.
He started his career as a freelance translator in Thessaloniki in 2002. Since 2006, he has been based in Madrid, working with translation agencies, companies and customers around Europe. He is member of the Spanish Translators’ Association (Asetrad) and IAPTI.
Dimitris has been a full member of PEM since 2017 and was elected to the Disciplinary Board at the 2018 General Meeting for a two-year term.
Vicky Ghionis, Vice President
Vicky holds degrees in Finance and Criminology from the University of Melbourne. She has been working as a freelance translator since 2000. She taught translation from 2004 to 2016 at Glossologia School of Translation in Athens, where she was also the coordinator for all the distance learning courses.
Her direct clients include Hygeia Group, Euroclinic Group, Metropolitan Hospital and Eurobank. She has also been an external associate of the European Central Bank since November 2015.
Vicky has been a full member of PEM since 2017 and was elected to the Disciplinary Board at the 2018 General Meeting for a two-year term.
Lieve de Paep, Secretary
Lieve’s native language is Dutch. She holds a Master in Translation from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and has been working in the field of translation part time since 1987 and full time since 1999, as the owner of a translation agency in Veria, Greece.
She mainly works with translation agencies in Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece, as well as with Greek law firms, companies and private customers. She was the principal of the Dutch School of Thessaloniki from 2016 to 2019, and is also a full member of the Belgian Chamber of Translators & Interpreters.
Lieve has been a member of PEM since 1999. She was an active member of the Audit Committee for 4 years and was elected to the Disciplinary Board at the 2018 General Meeting for a two-year term.
