Why Find a PEM Translator
If you are looking for a professional translator, here is what translators who are members of the Panhellenic Association of Translators (PEM) can offer you. Translators work with the written language and their goal is to convey concepts and messages from one language to the other. They differ from interpreters, who work exclusively with the spoken word.
If you are looking for an interpreter, here is why you should find a PEM interpreter.
Accredited professionals
Find seasoned professionals belonging to an Association that is a member of international organisations.
Experienced professionals
All PEM translators are accredited. They are professionals with many years of experience in the field of translation.
They practise the profession legally and can issue invoices.
They are accepted into the Association by virtue of resolutions passed by the PEM Board, as outlined in Article 4 of PEM’s Articles of Association .
PEM membership in international organisations
PEM is a member of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs – International Federation of Translators (FIT). Moreover, it actively participates in FIT Europe.
FIT is an international grouping of associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists.
In addition, in 2019 PEM became a member of the European Legal Interpreters and Translators Association (EULITA).
Quality translations
PEM translators make the quality of their work a paramount priority and always maintain professional secrecy.
Result-driven
PEM translators are consistent, aiming at the best possible result and complying with deadlines. They accurately convey the concepts of the original text they are translating.
The quality of their translations is assured because, as members, they are obliged to always comply with PEM’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
If a PEM translator violates the Code of Ethics and Conduct or behaves in an unprofessional manner, you have the right to report them.
Absolute secrecy
PEM translators always maintain professional secrecy, except in the case where the client/principal agrees otherwise.
All the information received when undertaking a project is kept absolutely confidential. This remains the case even after the project has been completed.
If additional translators must be engaged to keep a project on track, this will take place only after the client/principal has agreed.
Assigning any project to another translator is not permitted without the prior consent of the client or without the signing of a private non-disclosure agreement between the translator and their associate.
Continuing training
PEM offers training to all its members. Translators remain up to date on developments in the industry.
All PEM members are obliged to complete 16 hours of training per year, as outlined in Article 5C of the Articles of Association. If they fail to do so, they shall be erased from the PEM register.
Each year, translators undergo training to get acquainted with new technologies and tools that are absolutely necessary for them.
They continuously broaden their knowledge and skills by attending seminars, conferences or workshops. This way, they remain up to date on developments in their profession.
Certification seal
The texts you receive are officially certified, as PEM translators hold certification seals.
Translation certification seal
PEM translators hold certification seals for their working languages. This way, they can certify the translations delivered to you, with no need for you to resort to other authorities (e.g. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, law firms) for certification.
